To achieve this, they performed a unique modification: they removed the pickguard from a high-quality Strat and soldered a separate output jack to each pickup. This allowed them to record the pickups concurrently, perfectly preserving their phase relationship. As a result, you can switch between the neck, middle, and bridge pickups—or blend them—while playing, just like on a real guitar, without any unnatural phase cancellation.
