When this internal counter hits a pre-programmed maximum limit (100%), the printer enters a lockdown state. This is a built-in safety mechanism designed to prevent excess ink from overflowing out of the printer and ruining your desk or carpets. When this happens: See your documentation

This means the software cannot see the printer. Check your USB cable connection, try a different USB port, or ensure no print jobs are stuck in the Windows print queue.

The printer uses a digital counter called the Waste Ink Pad Counter to estimate when these sponges are full.
