The script was a unique international collaboration. Virtanen commissioned a short story from renowned Finnish crime novelist Leena Lehtolainen. Based on this story, British screenwriter Lara Moon wrote the original script in English, which was then adapted into Finnish by Veli-Pekka Hänninen.
