Born in 1942 in Beypazarı, Ankara, Torun's journey into music is a story of rare talent and dedication. He graduated from the Architecture Department at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, but his passion for music led him to study guitar and composition with masters like Andrea Paleologos, Pepe Rodriguez, and Cemal Reşid Rey. He was a devoted follower of the legendary Şerif Muhittin Targan school of oud performance, which greatly influenced his own playing and teaching.
