The story is a quintessential Greek tragedy. Set years before Kratos becomes the Ghost of Sparta we know, he is still a servant to the Olympian gods, haunted by the nightmares of his past where he was tricked by Ares into killing his own family. A dark force has caused Helios, the god of the sun, to disappear, plunging the world into an eternal slumber. The gods task Kratos with finding Helios and preventing the primordial goddess Persephone and the Titan Atlas from destroying the Pillar of the World, which would annihilate all of Greece and Olympus. The journey takes Kratos through iconic locations from Greek mythology, including the Underworld and the Temple of Helios.
