The movie follows Mike Traceur (played by Justin Bruening), the estranged son of the original show's hero, Michael Knight. Mike is recruited to drive a newly upgraded, nanotech-infused KITT. Unlike the original 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the 2008 KITT is a modified Ford Mustang capable of changing color, resisting heavy artillery, and utilizing advanced artificial intelligence. Val Kilmer provided the voice for the iconic vehicle, giving KITT a modern, analytical tone.
